- Product Code: EOCYPBLC
A member of the Southern Conifer group of the Cupressaceae family, and which grows to 45 metres. Having fragrant wood, it is a native cypress tree that has prevented its commercial exploitation for a considerable time, due to its geographical isolation. It was once thought to dominate the Australian continent, but this fire-prone species gave way to the Myrtaceae species with the coming of man.
Plantations were set up by the Northern Territory Government for timber production in the 1960's, neglected during the 1970's, due to the ravaging Cyclone Tracy that demolished the plantations, and ultimately deemed the wood and timber of this tree to be unsuitable for cyclone proof housing. During the mid 1990's - the essential oil 'discovery' of the unique tree began. A superb "first aid" oil, it can be used as an analgesic, insect repellent, anti-inflammatory and anti-viral. It also treats warts, skin irritations, diaper rash and muscle aches and pains.
