This elegant herb fast growing perennial, on a single stem, with feathery-like leaves, and a ball of flowers that sit atop. These flowers are the concentrated area of which the oil is extracted from. With an approx. yield of 0.15%, and a possible higher 0.25% could be achieved with carefully dried flowers. Flowers are harvested when in full bloom, before their centres turn brown.
When fresh, the oil from Yarrow is a rich blue in colour. This is due to the presence of chamazulene - which contains an anti-inflammatory agent called azulene. A common weed in areas of the Northern Hemisphere.
It is said to be beneficial for caring of the skin and hair, from acne, burns, cuts, eczema, hair growth, inflammations, rashes, scars, tones the skin, varicose veins and minor wounds. Helping in lowering blood pressure, and easing arteriosclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis and thrombosis. Relief of muscular cramps and spasms, such as constipation, flatulence, hemorrhoids and indigestion. Increases the immune systems against colds, fevers and flu, whilst easing hypertension, insomnia and stress related conditions.
